Heat Transfer Introduction

Please use the resources selected below to support your research for your final project. If you have a different resource you would like to use, please ask me first. Use the sources that match your project option. You only have to use one additional resource, but you are (of course and always) welcome to use more.

OPTION 1: Campus Heat Island Reduction

Objective: Target a ‘hot spot’ on our campus and identify how to make it cooler.
Relevant scientific vocabulary to  use: conduction, convection, radiation, surface types, solar energy, thermal energy

OPTION 2: Green Roof Proposal

Objective: Identify a location in your school or community that is a good candidate for a green roof, and prove why this would benefit our campus.
Relevant scientific vocabulary to use: Conduction, convection, radiation, solar energy, thermal energy, green roof, run off, minimum three specific plants you’d want to see on your green roof (with an explanation of why they’re good plants to use)

OPTION 3: Extreme Heat or Green Public Space Awareness

Objective: Create an artifact for public communication that can teach people about the dangers of heat and the importance of public green spaces.
Scientific vocabulary to use: Conduction, convection, radiation, solar energy, thermal energy, green spaces, climate change
